TiVo Cleansing

I'll give anything a chance, which is why my TiVo gets overloaded in the Fall when I allow every new show to get at least three episodes of viewing. It's now the third week, which means it's time to clean out the TiVo. As of last night, I have officially dropped Cougar Town, Melrose Place, Leno, The Beautiful Life, The Middle, The Forgotten, Glee, and Eastwick. That leaves Flashforward and Community as the only new shows that will survive this bloodbath.

Leno is still on?

Footnotes:

1. I might have kept The Beautiful Life, but it was cancelled.

2. Of the returning shows, Gossip Girl is the most likely to disappear soon. I just don't think this shtick can hold up for three seasons, and they've run out of clever ways to say "I Am Chuck Bass."

FlashForward is showing a lot of promise. I loved the book, which also acts as reassurance that they have a coherent storyline rather than an endless spiraling Lost-like nightmare. (Though I'm disappointed to see how they're veering away from the book in significant ways, like having people awake during the blackout. It kills the technical explanations for the blackout from the novel.)

No Modern Family?

The Forgotten is no good? I've been collecting them, but haven't actually watched any yet.

I'm sad that none of the medical shows are very good. I miss ER.

Seriously. Where's Modern Family? Funniest new show this season. Yes even more so then Community.

I concur with Modern Family (and FlashForward - the end of the pilot was downright spooky)

No love for Glee? I think that show is quite good.

Glee is great. you need to be watching it through several veils of camp and irony though

Super into Community, wife is into Glee.

I guess I just don't get Flash Forward. Missed the pilot, and maybe I missed being interested in the show as a result. Plus, Lost has controlled my life for long enough, I don't need another meandering cocktease show to ruin my TV habits... if I had any other than The Soup, Lost, and Community. (DAMN YOU JOEL MCHALE!)

Totally agree about Gossip Girl. That being said I do love how Dan Humphrey is The Man in college. He totally would be! I'm hanging in with Flash Forward. I should add Modern Family to DVR.

Community and Modern Family are more amusing than funny; there's something about Glee that I don't like (it would take too long to explain) and yet I keep watching. I'm intrigued by FlashForward, but I can't stand Joseph Fiennes terrible American accent. Why can't he just be British?

Honestly? I'm holding out hope for AMC's Prisoner remake to save this year's crop of tv shows.

How come when TV shows get cancelled, people don't say TV is dead. But when a magazine gets cancelled, the whole medium is buried by pundits. Sidenote: I think there's some potential buried deep in Glee. It just can't seem to find its way out.

After watching fifteen minutes of "Glee" with my wife wherein there was a barbershop quartet, a drama club etd, I turned to my wife and said, "Wow, can they do anything else to turn off the male viewer?"

i have the same problem. just do what i did last year, save them all for when you get a cold and are stuck on the couch for 3 days.

i love the premise of flash forward, but the writing (dialogue, i am looking at you.) is terrible. i'm a sucker for shows like this, so i will continue watching until they cancel it in midseason, but it doesn't mean i'm going to stop complaining.

also, i'm still loving glee. i can't help it!

The only new show I'm watching is Stargate Universe... still undecided if I'll keep going on that one. Many plot holes that haven't been resolved, and that is a bit annoying. Still, I don't have anything else that suits my taste at the moment.

Looked that the Flash forward site now. Seems kinda interesting, I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks!
